Bon Jovi's Secret Society newsletter, Volume 1, Number 4 spotlighted MTV's Hedonism Weekend event and contained an interview with the band about the success of Slippery When Wet. David Bryan explained, "We're still going out and playing just as hard as we've been playing, and we're still the same guys we were, but now everybody's diggin' on it."​
