The 1983 gig at Madison Square Garden got off to a rocky start when Richie Sambora hit the opening chord and blew his amp. It wasn't long before the restless crowd began to chant for ZZ Top.​

Jon remembered, "I have to take off my guitar, I toss it to Richie, and I go, ‘It’s all on you, play the guitar.’ He plays mine, turns it up to ten. And we get through a thirty-minute set in seventeen minutes."
